ABSTRACT CATEGORY : List of category descriptors is provided on the form.Choose the category in which you would like to include your abstract

Title : The tittle should be brief but sufficient in size to identify the nature of study.Write title in Capital letters in Font:11 Style:Times New Roman

AUTHORS : Underline the name of Presenting Author. Authors and name of institutions should be presented in Font:10,Style:Times New Roman

SIZE & STYLE OF TEXT OF ABSTRACT
:
The text of the abstract should be in 11 point , not to  exceed 250 words and should be typed in  single space, using a double space only for the sub heading.
 
A Sentence Stating the 
i)Aim of Study,
ii)Materials & Methods,
iii)Summary of results,
iv)Conclusions( Avoid "Results to be discussed").

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Use MS Word with Times New Roman font.
  • The title should be 11-point bold capital letter. The authors name should in 10 point with the name of the presenting author underlined . Do not use “Dr” and “ Degrees” with the names.
  • The address of the institution should also be in 10 point and should be brief.

No Product name may be used for promotional purpose.

TABLES & GRAPHS : Simple tables and graphs may be included if they fit inside the abstract box. Please avoid elaborate table and unconventional short forms.

Please see that conventional spelling is used, either British or American and don’t forget to do a spell check.

The theme for the 2009 conference is Polycystic Kidney Disease .All abstracts on this topic will  be grouped together in a session .

GUIDELINES FOR P.C. MARY – TANKER FOUNDATION
YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD


1. Any member of the Southern Chapter of Nephrology who was had not completed 40 years of the age as of December 2008 is eligible and should be the Principal investigator and he or she can compete for the award provided the member is D.M./Dip. N.B ( Nephro) degree holder ( or) Bonafide D.M/Dip. N.B ( Nephro) PGs ( or) M.D.( Medicine) or M.D (Pediatrics) with 5 years of Nephrology experience

2. Only Investigative work in the field of Nephrology will be considered for the award. The work should be original and novel and not a repetition or extension of work done. The work should be the original work of the Principal investigator and not that of any other person. The work should have been completely executed in India.

3. Part of whole of the work should not have been presented in any forum or published any where else before it is presented at Southern Chapter meet.

4. A write up of the completed work, not exceeding 1500 words, ( Excluding tables and figures) should reach before 15th November 2008. Any paper received after that date will not considered for the award.

5. 4 copies of the paper should be sent ( and one copy by email). A detachable first page should contain the names of the Principal Investigator , Co-investigators, name of the Institution and the Date of Birth of the Principal Investigator. This sheet will be detached before submitting the article for scrutiny.

6. The rest of the paper should not contain any information regarding the Institution or place of work. Any paper containing such reference will be disqualified.

7. A three member panel will independently evaluate all the papers received and select best 3 papers which will be presented at a separate session in the 2009 conference of our society. The principal Investigator will be given 15 minutes of presentation followed by a discussion for 5 minutes. The remaining papers will be considered for the General session.

8. Another panel of Judges will evaluate the oral presentations and decide the best paper among the three presented.

9. The prize money of Rs 10,000/- will be presented to the Principal Investigator of the paper.

10. The Co- Investigators of the best paper will be given Certificate of Merit for their contribution.

11. There should be a certificate by the Head of the department and the Head of Institution that the work is original and was done by the Principal investigator.

12.Send 4 copies of the paper to Dr.K.Sampathkumar, Secretary, ISNSC at the address given below.

NIYAMATHULLAH MEMORIAL AWARD 2008

The SCISN has been conducting an annual essay competition for NIYAMATHULLAH MEMORIAL AWARD, which was instituted in memory of Dr. Niyamathulla, a brilliant young Nephrologist from CMC,Vellore whose promising career was cut short by a tragic accident. The essay competition is meant for postgraduate students (MD/DNB students) in General Medicine / Paediatrics. The prize carries a citation, gold medal and prize money of Rs.1000/. A prize money of Rs.750 and 500 will be awarded to Second and Third prize winners respectively. The Awardees will be invited to attend the annual conference and will be provided suitable accommodation. The actual travel expenditure, accommodation and registration will be borne by the Society. The participants will have to submit an essay on the topic chosen by the Society. The objective is to initiate interest in Nephrology for post Graduates in Medicine and Pediatrics. The essay topic for this year is “ Renovascular hypertension”

Four copies of the essay should be sent to the Secretary,SCISN ,on or before 15.11.2008 ( and one copy by email ).Guidelines for writing and submitting the essay are enclosed.

Rules and Regulations for“NIYAMATHULLAH” MEMORIAL AWARD.

TOPIC FOR 2009 –RENOVASCULAR HYPERTENSION

Bonafide post graduate students in internal Medicine and Pediatrics from the Medical Colleges in the States of Andra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry can compete.

  1. The Medical College should be recognized by the Medical Council of India.
  2. The Essay must not be more than 10 double spaced. Type A4 size pages ( 30 x24cms)
  3. Bibliography of references, not exceeding fifty should be enclosed at the end.
  4. Four copies of the Essay should be submitted (and one copy by email)
  5. The Essay must be accompanied by,
    • A letter from the Candidate to the Chairman, stating that the submission of the Essay for the Competition and his willingness to abide by the rules and regulation of the competition and to accept the Chairman’s decision as final.
    • A letter from the candidate stating that work was done entirely by him.
    • A certificate from the Professor or Head of the Department stating that the Essay was written through the candidate’s own efforts.
    • A forwarding letter from the Head of the institution.
      The Essay must reach the Secretary, Southern Chapter of the Indian Society of Nephrology on or before November15, 2008 by registered post in the following address.
